ZAGG's improvements over iPhone's usability - invisibleSHIELD™ and Z.buds

iPhone case by ZAGG is derived from military equipment. Reviewing gadgets, we have come across such things earlier. All of them have been very tough. So is ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD™. The best thing about it, apart from scratch protection, is that it doesn’t change touch experience and there is no telling it is actually on. In rest, invisibleSHIELD™ is easy to install and needs less than 12 hours to dry out. Doesn’t add any bulk or weight to the original device. Really looks like an extra iPhone skin especially after watching the scratch test video below. In fact ZAGG Company is so sure that invisibleSHIELD™ will never let you down that they even provide all their customers with lifetime warranty. ZAGG’s invisibleSHIELD™ is also cheap – only 24.95 USD for full coverage.

eWoo eFizz Travel Speaker For iPod Review

Boasting up to 20 hours of wireless battery charge, the eWoo eFizz is an ideal companion when the scenario calls for no electrical outlets. Featuring an attractive all black finish the eFizz is head to toe speaker grill. Being one of the smallest iPod speaker docks I have used it is fairly lightweight and easy to hold. My iPod Classic 80g fit very snug and secure and the eFizz had a very cushioned and balanced posture sitting upon any level surface.

The eFizz connects easily with iTunes via supplied USB cable which is cool if you have it near your computer for transferring music or downloading new firmware. Note that you need to have power supplied to the eFizz in order for it to sync to iTunes. Though the eFizz has no real body controls to speak of, it’s easy to scroll through the actual iPod as it sits in the dock. What I would like to see most of these travel docks are storage areas for the remote and power cord so there’s not so many loose pieces. Also of note is that while wireless, the eFizz will not charge your iPod.
Sound wise I was’nt super impressed. The max volume wasn’t all that loud and the speakers were a bit tinny. Not that they were bad, they just sounded really small, because they are. At low volumes everything sounded fine as long as it didn’t have to compete with any extraneous noise. There was a bit of volume muffling that wasn’t totally distracting but noticeable to say the least. By my bed I did enjoy the low volume as everything sounded clear and crisp.

Pros:
* Very small and compact
* Wireless with extra long battery life
* Syncs with iTunes
Cons:
* Sound could be better given price
* Poor customer service “One Touch Info Button”
* Sporadic volume muffling

AT&T Hoping to Keep its Hold on the iPhone Until 2011

The two companies have always made it clear that this exclusivity agreement exists, but both have kept the details hush-hush. When it's supposed to expire hasn't been officially announced, but it will currently come to an end next year, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The iPhone has been a huge success for AT&T, and so it's not surprising that the WSJ is also reporting that this carrier wants to extend the exclusivity agreement.
Whether Apple feels the same way isn't covered, but there have been no public signs of dissatisfaction with AT&T.
Following Apple's Plan
There are a great many people who are interested in an iPhone but refuse to switch to AT&T, and this group keeps hoping that the exclusivity agreement between Apple and this carrier will come to an end.
A few of these people mistakenly think that Apple is somehow trapped in this agreement, and if it could just get out then the iPhone would soon be available from Verizon, Sprint, etc. The problem with this theory is that it has been Apple's strategy from the beginning that its smartphone be available from just one source in each country.
The company wanted unusual control over how this device is distributed and serviced, and in order to get that it had to give a wireless phone company unusually exclusive access. Also, limiting the number of carriers that offer a phone greatly simplifies the development and support processes.
Read a ReviewAT&T for at Least Another Year
Whether or not Apple and AT&T agree to extend their cooperation until 2011, AT&T will still be the exclusive provider of all iPhone models until next year.
This means that it will be the only mobile phone company that will offer the next-generation iPhone that is expected to debut this summer.

TailGater iPod & Instrument Combo Speaker

Especially if it can achieve high decibel levels. Anyway, the TailGater by Ion Audio has a rugged construction appeal to it and would look very appropriate in the back of an F150 at an Allman Brothers concert. It has a variety of inputs and even comes with a microphone for hollering drunken gibberish in the parking lot at some Nascar event. The specs don’t say whether or not you can have multiple inputs going simultaneously. I think that would be a huge feature for this product especially for a guitar player wanting to play over songs in order to learn them or practice soloing or whatever. I’ll try and get one for review and let you know how it sounds. Available now for $199

TuneUp for your iTunes

"Your music's new best friend" Available for both Mac and PC.
After you've installed TuneUp and logged in / registered, you'll notice it has 4 tabs : Clean, Cover Art, Now Playing, and Concerts.
Clean Tab:
Drag and drop 'dirty' tracks from iTunes onto TuneUp to start cleaning them. What qualifies as a 'dirty track'? Anything with missing metadata or artwork.
On average, TuneUp will correctly identify about 85-90% of your music library. Here are a few strategies to quickly find your most troublesome tracks:
- Sort by track name, artist, or album and then scroll to songs that are missing that information
- Search for tracks labeled "Track", "Untitled" or "Various"
- Switch to cover flow/grid view and drag anything that's missing cover art into TuneUp
"Matches" are 99% correct. "Likely Matches" are 80-90% correct on average. For each album, click the drop down arrows at left to see a track-listing and album art options.
Not sure about the song’s original info? Click the play button next to a track to hear it and see its original info in iTunes.
When you're happy with it, hit save.
Cover Art Tab:
Cover Art displays possible matches for every song missing cover art in your library.
Hit save next to any cover art you want to keep.
Click an album to see 4 possible matches, select your favorite one, then hit save in the top box to save that cover to your album.
Now Playing:
Now Playing presents the web’s best content for any playing track. Find your favorite song in iTunes and hit play; TuneUp automatically displays related music videos from YouTube (click the video play button to watch them within TuneUp), upcoming local concerts by that artist, artist news, Amazon song and album recommendations, and eBay merchandise.
Concerts:
Use concerts to see which bands in your collection are coming to town and buy tickets to the show.
Additionally, TuneUp has analyze, undo, and purchasing functionality, but the simple steps above are the easiest way to get on your way to a much cleaner music collection...

iPod finally in bath on The MP3 Mirror

This gadget came out from AL studio labs and is called The MP3 Mirror. But don't be fooled. They haven't designed a mirror, they have designed a waterproof dock for your iPod. It is made from steel and keeps all the electronic and potentially dangerous parts inside. Such a way, and this is the best of what I like in The MP3 Mirror, is that it can be attached to any mirror and you don't have to change it. Also, iPod will be perfectly seen in it in the dark - lighted by a Touch Led. No info on price but once again should be cheaper than a TV.

Apple Let's Rock Event - new iPod Nano, iPod Touch 2G and iTunes 8

Pictures of new iPod Nano made a big buzz in the Internet not so long ago, making this announcement the most anticipated. New Nano was certainly worth waiting for. It is now taller than 3G, and the sides are slightly curved. But what is really different is the screen layout - now it is portrait instead of landscape. Built-in accelerometer controls the display and turns image if iPod is turned on side, making the movie playback more comfortable.

With its new model lineup, Apple introduced a new and interesting feature for all of its music players - Genius mode. This is a feature that will be familiar to all Last.fm users - it can make up smart playlists from songs that go great together. When turned on in the iTunes, it sends information from your music library to Apple, synchronizing with their online database and making a playlist that is made perfectly for your taste. Maybe it won't make the perfect playlist the first time, but it will evolve as more songs are collected in the online database. All new player models have that feature in menu - iPod Nano, Classic and Touch.
Classic upgrade was least interesting than others, because the only change is its capacity - now it is 120 GB. It supports all new features including Genius mode, has improved battery life and that's all. Prices are already available - 120 GB model will be sold for 250 USD. Same for Shuffle - it will have no hardware updates at all, Apple just increased the amount of color options, so you can select from four new colors - vibrant blue, green, pink, and red.
iPhone and iTouch firmware upgrade is almost completely a bug-fix release, which removes existing bugs, enables Genius mode, improves battery life and backup speed. It will be free for all iPhone users, but if you own iTouch you will need 10 dollars to buy this upgrade. iPod Touch also had some small update - WiFi antenna looks much better integrated, internal speakers sound better, and it is even thinner now.

This year's Apple Let's Rock event was rich for new announcements. New and greatly improved interface of iPod Nano, new Genius function, firmware update for iPhone and iTouch, and a new version of iTunes program - many updates for one event, don't you think? Unfortunately, iPod Classic update was very minor, but does it have the need in major redesign? Don't fix what is already working great, that is the main strategy for Apple at this point. Even if new Nano looks so similar to Microsoft Zune, it is still Apple, and it does have many things Zune hasn't - including huge worldwide fan base. So let's wait for other big announcements from Apple - maybe they will include the clipboard ability in the iPhone at last?

iRecorder - video recorder for PMPs

iRecorder looks just like an overgrown Shuffle with big circle that imitates Click Wheel and has a set of control buttons on it. This gadget is a media device which you must connect to whatever video source available: TV, cable, set top box, satellite receiver box, DVD or your Camcorder. You'll only need to check, if there is an RCA jack output from your source. If it has one then you'd be able to connect it to this device's AV-IN jack. It also has AV-OUT to preview recorded media on the TV. iRecorder will precisely capture any video signal into a format that is easily played by most multimedia gadgets out there - MPEG4.
And more to say, it will even transfer it directly to the device itself, so you won't even worry about getting the converted movie out - all is done by this recorder. This vide transfer function is compatible with iPods, Nano (3rd generation), iPod Classic or any other media device that can play MPEG4 video.
With help of this device, you will be able to transfer any DVD or recording to your portable media player, without having to read all those freakin' manuals, which is usually meant to be understood only by technicians. And by the way: its cost is 200 dollars.

Apple launched the new iPod Touch

The iTouch doesn't include a phone, that's why its main feature is the text messaging. The iTouch can be connected to internet via Wi-Fi and that is why Apple added some other 5 applications. The main are Mail, Maps and Stock which start working when connected to internet. The coolest of those is Maps which now integrates with your contacts.
You just have to chose a contact, tap on maps and you will be given travel directions in a few seconds. No, it is not the GPS that helps finding directions. It is the Wi-Fi positioning technology – an interesting way to find the location and chart out the map.
Apple has also made some improvements in the touch screen programs so you could take a better advantage from the Wi-Fi. So don't worry, you will be able to e-mail a picture of you lying under Florida sun to your family and friends.
